Describe the irony in Tally's victory over Dr. Cable. What was lost in the process?

Tally's victory was bitter sweet in a couple of ways. She salvaged a piece of the smoke, but she lost a lot more than she saved from the library. Also, the boss was lost in the process so it was much of a win to me.
